The structure of American education is similar to that of systems across the globe. It is divided into Elementary school, middle school and high school. Elementary school is the base which consists of kindergarten and 1 to 6 grades. Children of the age 5 are enrolled into kindergarten. Middle schools comprises of children in 6 to 8 grades and high school student from 8 to 12. Literacy rate in the country is as high as 85%. The high school curriculum is rigorous with a good mix of academics, music and art and certain vocational training.
