In order to select the right mix of student into colleges, the criterion includes: the course chosen by the student in school, the students score, the entrance exam score and a personal interview. Some colleges also include essay writing and impromptu speeches. The course taken up the student is high school will determine whether the student is equipped for the course offered by the college. The GPA or the Grade point average will determine the academic excellence of the student. The most entrance exams in the United States are Scholastic Aptitude Test and American College Testing.
