The government of American follows a federal system wherein each state functions as an entity in itself. Each state is governed by the local government that sets educational laws and guidelines for itself. Due to local governance, the curriculum varies in each state. Public schools and universities, however, do not come under the federal government. Education is a mandatory and students from public can avail free education from 1-12 grades. Schools and Universities which are not public have to pay their tuition fees. They can make use of various scholarships schemes and loans that are designed especially for students.
